Maria Escudero Escribano, who was recently named winner of the Princess of Girona Foundation Scientific Research Award, will give a seminar on Wed 11th at 12:00 with the title “Tailored Electrochemical Interfaces for Sustainable Energy Conversion”.

The Spanish Minister of Economy , Industry and Competitiveness, during of his first visit to the CSIC, has toured the “Manuel Rico” High Field NMR laboratory in the Rocasolano Institute of Physical Chemistry.

We have grown high quality magnetite microcrystals conserving bulk magnetic properties below 20 nm thickness. The observed domain configurations are dictated purely by shape anisotropy thus demonstrating the possibility of designing spin structures in ultrathin, magnetically soft magnetite at will.

PBP2x is an essential transpeptidase in Streptococcus pneumoniae, critical for septal peptidoglycan synthesis during cell division. Recognition of nascent peptidoglycan at an allosteric site located in the PASTA domains of this enzyme predisposes penetration of peptidoglycan into the active site for turnover events.

One more year, the Rocasolano comes out very well in the Nature Index ranking of scientific institutions.

The Nature Index is an indicator of the quality of scientific institutions based on the papers published in a selection of high impact academic journals, both belonging to Nature or other editorial groups.

The IQFR, together with other CSIC Institutes, participates in the European project PARTHENOS. This project aims to develop a research infrastructure in the sector of humanities and favour the integration and interoperability between research infrastructure services.

Structure-function relationships of a novel 2´-deoxyribosyltransferase from the psychrotolerant bacterium Bacillus psychrosaccharolyticus (BpNDT) have been exhaustively studied by biochemical and high resolution crystallographic analyses.

Streptococcus suis is one of the most important pathogens in the porcine industry and an emerging zoonotic agent that infects humans, causing high fatality rates.
