"From Bayes (to electrons to proteins) to therapies"
I will begin from the fundamentals of probability theory and quantum statistical mechanics to then move to the discussion of several questions and results about hybrid quantum-classical models of molecular systems possibly open to an external environment. I will also discuss my main motivation for undertaking these type of developments: the realistic simulation of protein dynamics during biological timescales in the midterm, and the application of these techniques for medical therapies in Spinal Muscular Atrophy in the long term. I will argue that this wide span of levels, from the fundamentals to the human and social interest of the possible applications of the research, is convenient to bear in mind for scientists of all areas.
